I must get a job soon! I can’t keep sitting at home trying to find something to clean or get sucked into the internet for two hours here and there. I’ve applied online to all the places that I can apply to in four different cities. I guess it might help out if I had the gas money to actually go out and find those places that advertise primitively with a little paper sign taped on their window: HELP WANTED. I guess it might help my situation if I actually hadn’t worked before at Arby’s, Dairy Queen, Burger King, Domino’s Pizza, Hardees, CVS, Target and other assorted local businesses that wouldn’t ever, ever hire me back again. I don’t blame the economy. I blame myself. Listen up kids, go to college or tech school or job training or the organic farm or overseas volunteering for what you want to do. If you don’t know what you want to it doesn’t matter, go to college! You can figure it out way later as you go. Nothing will change, you can still drink and smoke weed just like you normally would. Or if you didn’t do any of that before you will get to when you’re out on your own. It’ll make you feel like an adult. It’s a real thrill. You can still do A LOT of fun and stupid things when you’re going to school. I can’t say that I should’ve went because I am a super special gift of God who was destined to be a bearer of great hardship only to emerge later in life as a true beacon of inspiration for others. B.S. I should’ve gone. Then I would be able to get a freakin 20 dollar charge from Blockbuster Video from eight years ago off of my credit report . Then I wouldn’t be sitting around with my thumb up my butt watching my boyfriend buy an expensive jacket and pay for my own kitty cat to eat and poop and get fixed because he makes over 650 dollars a week because he went to college and got a bachelor’s degree. I wouldn’t have to hear him tell me to go out and get two jobs so I could pull my own weight around the house. I wouldn’t have to drive a questionable car. I wouldn’t have to buy the cheapest food possible or think about skipping meals. I could go to a play or a coffee shop if I wanted to. Please, go to college. At least just get out of the town that you’ve stayed in with your parents or whoever the past four years or whatever you completed of high school. You need a change. You need to learn to survive in the world as it is. You will not change it unless you go to the inside of things and work diligently there. You will not change the world by your attitude, your unconventionalness, your hopes alone. You need to be able to make some money and not be twenty-five like me desperately seeking any job that there is out there.
beautiful lily, you’re only 25. it’s never too late to go to college.
