How Long Does it Take Once I Apply to Get into a College?
The amount of time it takes to get into college after you have applied depends mostly on the actual college you are planning to attend and the guidelines and polices they have in place. It also depends on how on the ball you were about getting the application completed for the upcoming school year. If you sent your application in quite early, you may still have to wait until later in the year to find out if you got into the college as the admissions board takes the time to review all of the applications it received.
With most universities, you will need to have your applications in sometime between January 1 and February 15. In most cases, you will know if you got into the college by March or early April. You will receive letters from all of the colleges you applied to that will let you know if you were accepted or not. Once you have decided which college you will be attending, you need to contact all of those that accepted you and notify them of your decision. It is best to notify these colleges no later than May 1.
If you will be attending an online college, you might have a bit more flexibility in regard to when your application must be submitted. With some online colleges, you might know whether or not you were accepted within just a few weeks. In addition, you might be able to start taking classes immediately, even if it in the middle of the traditional school year.
