There’s Hope for Outdoor Enthusiasts!

By the time March rolls around, we are all looking forward to the prospect of some warm, spring weather. If you’re sick and tired of being cooped up inside due to inclement weather conditions, you can rest easy now that March has finally come. Get ready for some quality time in the outdoors, spring fans!

However, many of us just aren’t content being weekend outdoor warriors. Some folks just need to be outside all the time! If the idea of working in a cubicle seems stifling to you, don’t worry, there are plenty of career options out there for those of you who are outdoor enthusiasts.

Studies show that only about 45% of Americans are satisfied with their jobs. If you’re going to spend about eight hours at work, you might as well be happy at your job, right? The reason that so many people are unhappy in our careers is that we’re all struggling with trying to find the right balance between work and leisure. The solution is fairly obvious, yet so many of us are missing the point—do what you love! And if you love being in the outdoors, why not get a job working in an office without walls?

Check out these five hot jobs that will allow you to travel and spend some quality time in the sun—

Paralegal

What they do: paralegals perform a variety of tasks to help attorneys. They often track down important information about a particular case by reading past judicial decisions or examining any relevant legal information.

How they work outside: who would have thought that you could escape from the office by getting a job in the legal profession? If you’re a paralegal working for an environmental or conservation company, you’re in luck. These folks often have to work in the field (i.e. outdoors) to conduct their research.

Nurse

What they do: the bottom line is that nurses help people stay healthy! They teach people how to take care of their bodies by using preventative medicine, as well as assisting doctors in some procedures.

How they work outside: who says that only kids can go to camp? There is a high demand for camp nurses, which means that you can spend your off-hours hiking, playing water sports, or singing “Kumbaya” by the camp-fire. And helping kids stay healthy is pretty cool, too.

Construction worker

What they do: construction workers build and maintain roads and buildings, as well as knocking down old structures

How they work outside: since construction workers are the people who make sure that the plans of the engineers are carried out, the majority of their work is outside. After all, they’re the ones that build buildings!

Tour guide

What they do: tour guides are the people that are responsible for showing tourists around the place that they are visiting.

How they work outside: since tour guides take their clients around a city or a historical site, they get to spend a lot of time walking and talking in the outdoors. It is their job to keep the tour engaging—whether they’re pointing out a celebrity or showing a particular city’s historical landmarks.

Real Estate Agent

What they do: real estate agents help people find homes by negotiating the terms of the property between the customer and the seller

How they work outside: real estate agents show potential buyers around a particular property and make sure that they see all parts of the house or estate. This job is particularly fun because you get to see inside other people’s homes!

So, if you feel a twinge of remorse every time you have to spend a nice day inside of an office, these careers will help liberate you from the prospect of a desk job! You can finally kiss those 30-minute lunch breaks and dingy cubicles goodbye!
