Train to Become a Motorcycle Technician
Have you always favored two wheels over four? Ever wanted to translate your interest in motorcycles into a career? The good news is you can! Simply read on about motorcycle repair and consider the fun and enjoyment you will get out of becoming a technician.
Motorcycle dealerships, repair agencies and racing facilities all seek qualified technicians. It’s simply not enough to fiddle around with an engine or your own motorcycle project and call that ‘experience’. Employers want technicians who have gone to school and completed the necessary training to work on a number of engines, electrical systems, and diagnostic equipment. Add to this the growing complexity in two and four stroke engine repair work and you will understand why going to school is the only way to gain this technical knowledge.
What can you expect to learn? Take the following, for example:
- Engine inspection, maintenance, and repair work
- Understand engine and ignition systems, and electrical circuits
- Examine and fix frames, steering, and brakes
- Understand suspension, wheel assemblies, and tires
Technicians need to be flexible as they will be required to work on a number of projects, such as small and medium-sized engines for scooters, snow mobiles, all terrain vehicles, and mopeds.
Motorcycles are popular amongst the young and old, but especially amongst the retired Baby Boomers who now have the time and money to indulge in their passion. They need technicians to help maintain their treasured vehicles, so why not take up a career that is not only in demand but also fun!
