Shaquille O’Neal Gets Schooled!

You probably have heard of Shaquille O’Neal, the famous NBA star. Not only can he play basketball, but he has also appeared in hundreds of commercials, rap videos, and video games. As a modern “jack of all trades”, The New York Times has reported that Shaq’s next career move will take him off the court as a sports broadcaster!

While the basketball superstar promises that he will play four more seasons in the NBA, he plans on having his own radio and television shows after he retires from the sport. In order to realize his goal of becoming a successful broadcaster, O’Neal is returning to school to study broadcasting. He is currently practicing conducting interviews (instead of giving them), voice fluctuation, and the little nuances of behind-the-scenes television filming.

If you are a sport enthusiast and are looking to break into the broadcasting field with Shaquille O’Neal, getting a degree in sports management is an important first step. It’s important to keep in mind that you don’t necessarily need athletic prowess to be passionate about sports (although it can’t hurt!). You can find sports management graduates wherever you encounter professional teams, school athletic departments, private recreational facilities, and sports clothing producers.

So, if you are interested in joining the ranks of famous broadcasters like Shaquille O’Neal and Bryant Gumbel of HBO’s “Real Sports”, a college degree will help you reach your career goals!
