Benefits of Working for Yourself
Have you ever worked somewhere and thought, “I’m smarter than my manager?” Most of us have. The worst part about being stuck in a job like this is knowing that you can do your supervisor’s job better than they can! If you are looking to really advance in your career, the best way to climb the corporate ladder is getting that degree!
So, maybe it’s time to break the cycle of working with frustrating bosses and coworkers. Maybe it’s time for you to become your own boss. Why should you work for yourself?
Here are a few reasons:
You can work on your own schedule – Sometimes our work hours can interfere with our personal obligations. If you have kids, it may be difficult for you to get off of work to attend school programs or take your kids to appointments. At some jobs, management couldn’t care less if you are trying to further your education, so they won’t accommodate your school schedule. When you work for yourself, you can adjust your schedule to meet your personal needs. You can also determine if you want to work nights, weekends and holidays.
You determine what you’re worth – It’s frustrating when you know that you’re working your tail off for peanuts. And your manager’s gratitude doesn’t pay the bills. Why let your hard work make someone else rich? When you work for yourself, you determine your rate of pay.
You can work wherever you want – When you work for yourself, you can decide where you want to work. Do you want to work out of your home? Or, would you rather find a neat space of your own? That decision is up to you. That beats a cramped cubicle and florescent lights any day.
