Passionate About Cartoons? Consider A Career in Animation!

Do you get more excited about the latest Pixar or Dreamworks release than most other films? If so, then perhaps your passion lies with animation.

Nowadays, cartoons are not just for children. Motion animated pictures are just as enjoyable for parents as they are for kids. In recent years, animation flicks have made a point to include smarter jokes that parents will appreciate, as well as making kids laugh at the same time.

Developments in animation have come a long way since the days of Scooby Doo and The Jetsons. Animated films are now one of the biggest earners and most anticipated films on the silver screen!

Animated characters stick with us. We all remember the adventures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story films, and who could forget the insight into the life of an insect in Disney’s A Bug’s Life? Pursuing a career in animation means you could one day be responsible for creating and developing a character that may very well become a household name!

If you study animation at college, you will learn to refine your drawing skills. Even in this day and age of computers, animators still sketch out and brainstorm their ideas by hand, as well as developing storyboards before taking their sketches to the computer. Going to animation school is important; as you will learn how to use the various computer software (Flash, Maya, and Lightwave, for example) in order to develop your characters.

Digital animation is not the only form of animation. Clay mation and stop motion graphics are becoming increasingly popular, as well. Just look at the success of Wallace and Gromit or the Oscar winning short film animation, Harvie Krumpet.

So, what are you waiting for? Look towards a career in animation today!
