The Pulmonary Function Testing Lab Has Re-Opened!
The Pulmonary Function Testing Lab at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC) has been remodeled and reopened with enhanced and advanced technologies!
The center has acquired two groundbreaking pulmonary testing systems. This analysis equipment offers patients the experience of accurate measurement and efficiency. One of the best parts about the new equipment is its versatility, which allows pulmonary services to be provided for both children and adults.
For the past few years, demand for high quality pulmonary testing has grown. The Pulmonary Function Testing Lab has expanded its number of staff members to further meet the growing demand. You can find the Lab within the Department of Respiratory Care Services, which offers respiratory therapy, ventilator management, pulmonary breathing exercises, bedside pulmonary function tests, oxygen therapy, and intensive care respiratory services to inpatients and outpatients. With these services, patients suffering from pulmonary diseases will hopefully achieve independence and rehabilitation.
Robert B. Sigler, MBA, FACHE, Director of Respiratory Care Services and Neurodiagnostics at NBIMC, is leading the way at the new lab. He is a trained respiratory therapist who worked for over 32 years in therapy and management. The Pulmonary Function Testing lab treats many areas, including:
• Asthma testing and education
• Emphysema evaluation
• Restrictive lung disease assessment
• Cystic fibrosis testing
• History of smoking examination
• Assessment of pulmonary function
• Testing the use of oxygen therapy and bronchodilator therapy
• Bedside testing for patients hospitalized at NBIMC
The Lab is open six days a week and treats both adult and pediatric patients. You can easily schedule your appointment at the lab by calling (973) 926-7597.
