Whilst there is no real life contact between students and teachers, the benefit of studying online means you can email students and teachers as often as you want. While it is not possible to generate discussion in a traditional classroom setting, an online classroom allows you to communicate via message boards and blogs, and even instant messenger.

Last, but certainly not least, students who attend an online university don’t have to commute! Students save money on transportation and college housing because with online learning, your home is your campus!

The most obvious disadvantage of online learning is the lack of face-to-face contact with your instructor and fellow students. Online colleges have attempted to correct this problem by encouraging the use of emails, blogs, and message boards.

Since the internet becomes your virtual classroom, e-learning sometimes requires a great deal of discipline and time-management skills. The structure of the classroom is replaced by the vastness of the internet, so you really need to keep yourself in check when attending class or doing schoolwork!
