Debut of the Flying Car
Remember when you were a kid, flapped your arms and pretended to fly around? Or maybe when you dreamed of being a pilot to a flying car? Those dreams have now become a reality with Terrafugia’s new flying car! Is the vehicle a car that can fly or a plane that you can take on the highway? We’re not quite sure what category it belongs to, but it’s definitely an innovation in the aeronautical field.
The Terrafugia flying car is marketed towards private pilots, giving them the opportunity to land their vehicle and drive on the road when bad weather makes it difficult to fly.
The flying car made its maiden voyage on March 5th at the Plattsburgh International Airport in New York. The two-seater vehicle, with its capability to fold up its wings, is designed to be conductive to driving in traffic and doesn’t require that much room to store in your garage. Surprisingly enough, it runs on the regular unleaded fuel that you can purchase from any neighborhood gas station.
The introduction of this car marks the beginning of a new era in the aeronautical field! While it gives consumers a glimpse of great things to come in the world of travel, there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done. The vehicle that actually made the test flight was designed just to prove that the concept works, and a prototype for commercial production has yet to built and tested. However, Terrafugia hopes to have its first customer delivery by 2011.
Are you feeling inspired to fly? If you’re feeling excited at the prospect of driving flying car, you’re definitely not alone. There is lots of work to be done in the aeronautical field, so take a look and see what opportunities are available to you!
