Career Advancement Opportunities

If you are a military spouse, some great news is headed your way! The Department of Defense is expanding the Military Spouse Career Advancement Account Program this year. This means that the program will provide $6,000 in financial aid to spouses of active duty service members for education in any “portable” career.

A portable career is one that will most likely provide job opportunities in the places that military Service members are located. These are also the careers that have high growth sectors and should be in demand almost anywhere. According to the official website, education, human resources, business management, nursing, information technology, and homeland security are all portable careers. Approved funding can be applied to associate, bachelor, and graduate degrees, along with nursing, paralegal, and medical coding and billing certifications.

To date, there have been 33,000 spouses who have applied to the program. This is because the Military Spouse Career Advancement Account Program, or CAA for short, has helped military spouses get the training and education they need to persist in portable careers. The CAA can help cover the costs of tuition, books, exam fees, and more! This is a great way to expand your skill sets and know that you are academically prepared to get a job in another state, or country.
