Top 5 iPhone Apps for College Students

It seems like smart phones have taken over the world- or at least college campuses. There are tens of thousands of app choices, so how do you know which ones are the best? Top Colleges has compiled a list of the top apps, check it out below:

1. Dictionary.com is a trusty little app with over 275,000 words as well as a thesaurus. Even better: it’s more comprehensive than similar apps that demand your cash and- it’s free! When you have internet connection, audio pronunciation and similarly spelled words are available. Who doesn’t need a dictionary once in a while- and especially when you’re digesting hefty textbooks?

2. Kindle for iPhone not only works with your phone but also with the iPod Touch. This official Amazon app gives you access to the entire Kindle library, full of books and journals. Although books will still have to be purchased (mostly $9.95 each), the app itself is free!

3. Pi Cubed is not exactly going to replace your scientific TI-89, but it still packs some serious punch. This app comes equipped to handle logarithms, trigonometry, roots, factorials, and exponents. It also comes with over 150 annotated equations in subjects ranging from chemistry to statistics. Pi Cubed is only $9.99 and a strong complement to your regular calculator.

4. The Periodic Table and Chemistry Calculator is quite a bargain! This app features category, atomic mass, heat capacity, electro negativity, and density, among other things. The calculator comes in handy when it comes time to compute the mass of a mole of a compound. If you are a chemistry student, this will definitely fit the bill at only $0.99.

5. Read it Later allows you to mark pages online and read them, well, when you’re offline. This lets you download websites for offline reading- genius! This is especially beneficial when you’re doing research and you don’t want to clutter your main bookmarks, or if you simply want to download some online notes and read them on the train or at the gym. There is a free version, but the pro version sells for a mere $2.99.

With these nifty apps, you’re sure to be at the head of the class in no time!
