Top-Colleges Welcomes the Return of “Project Runway”!
Yes, we CAN change! No, we’re not talking about national health care or President Obama…we’re referring to supermodel Heidi Klum and the return of “Project Runway”.
The sixth season of “Project Runway” is set to premiere tonight on Lifetime after a year-long hiatus and a whole lotta changes. For the past year, millions of fans have been on the edge of their seats, wondering if the hit reality TV show for aspirating fashion designers will ever return to the airwaves.
So, how will this season be different from the last five? Klum had her heart set on a spruced-up runway, a different color palette for the set, and new seating for the judges. And what Heidi wants, Heidi gets. After five seasons of filming in New York, Heidi and fellow host Tim Gunn have packed up their bags and headed to a new city (Los Angeles) and a new network (Lifetime).
Lately, there has been nothing but turmoil in the “Project Runway” world. Back in April 2008, the rights to the hit series spiraled into a huge legal battle between NBC Universal, Lifetime, and The Weinstein Company. ”By the end of production (of season 6),” says new exec producer Jon Murray, ”we started to joke around, like, ‘Are we going to have to show this to our friends and families in our living rooms?”’
Fans can breathe a sigh of relief now that Lifetime won the rights to season 6 through 10, guaranteeing many more years of our favorite fashion show. However, there are still a few glitches to be worked out in production. When she first stepped on to the new Los Angeles soundstage, Heidi Klum encountered an exact replica of the Manhattan “Project Runway” set that has been used since 2004. ”I was shocked,” Klum disclosed. ”It was déjà vu. I was looking forward to different scenery, and everything was the same!”
For now, it seems that everything has been settling nicely. The set has been fixed, a blow-out marketing campaign has been commenced, and the reality show will soon appear in living rooms across America. Despite being stuck in reality TV limbo for over nine months, the “Runway” team assured viewers that the series will be just as addictive and provide the same guilty pleasure as the previous seasons. Jane Cha, the executive producer, confidently proclaimed that, ”it’s like we’ve been keeping a baby under wraps in the house and now we’re ready to give it a party.”
So, tune in tonight to see what Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, and their fabulous team of designers and fashionistas have in store for us. And if you can’t get enough of “Project Runway”, check out its new spin-off—“Models of the Runway”—which will feature the femme fatales who flaunt the designer’s innovative creations each week.
Welcome back, Heidi and team!
