It isn’t much of a secret that lawyers have been struggling quite a bit with holding onto their jobs during these difficult economic times. This does not mean, however, that finding a job after completing law school is impossible. Rather, by keeping a few things in mind, you will have a pretty good chance of landing a job after graduation. Here are a few things you can do to give yourself a better chance of finding a job after you finish your schooling.

· Talk to the Career Services office at your law school and find out more information on campus interviews and other leads that can help you with finding a job.
· Talk to others who have recently graduated and ask them about their experiences with finding a job.
· Contact law firms in the area where you hope to work. Find out where they do their recruiting from and what types of people they are looking for when they do their hiring.

If you haven’t actually enrolled in a law school and you are still tying to decide where you want to go to school, you should also give serious consideration to the location of the school. By attending a school that is located in the area where you would ultimately like to live and to practice law, you will have a better chance of getting your foot in the door. This is because you can start networking while you are still in law school by participating in internships, attending symposiums and getting to know guest lecturers.

As with any career, the key to finding a job within the legal field is to build up a network of professional contacts and to make sure your name is “out there” among those who are doing the hiring. By exploring all of the paths you have toward obtaining a job, you will ultimately get your foot in the door and start down the path of a rewarding career.
