Make Work More Tolerable with a Change in Attitude

Do you find yourself stuck in a job that you really don’t like? If you have lost your passion for your line of work – or if you never really felt very passionate about it in the first place – it might be time for you to take stock of the pros and cons of your job so you can change your perspective and make your job more bearable.

The reality is that many people who are miserable in their jobs have simply lost touch with the positive aspects of their job. So, take a moment to sit down and take stock of all of the things you like and don’t like about your current job. Be sure to take a realistic look at your job without allowing your current negative feelings cloud your judgment. Unfortunately, many people wait until they are simply boiling over with anger and frustration before they take stock of their job, which can make this step a bit difficult at times.

As you are taking inventory of the pros and cons of your job, be sure to put an extra amount of effort into exploring the positive. Try to make it a game to find as many positive things as you can about your job rather than dwelling on the negative. Soon, you will find your attitude begin to shift and you will be feeling much better about coming to work each day.

After you have your list of pros and cons in front of you, consider the negative aspects about your job and try to determine which things you can change and how you can go about changing them. If you are unhappy with your salary or your current position within the company, for example, heading back to school may be just what you need in order to make a change. By focusing on the positive and creating an action plan for changing the negative, you will soon find yourself feeling far more satisfied when you report to work each day.
