Andre Agassi Serves Up a Winner for Education

Tennis legend Andre Agassi is holding serve off the court these days with the Andre Agassi Foundation. This foundation was founded over 17 years ago and has been focused on children ever since. Now, the Andre Agassi College Preparation Academy, founded in 2001, is in full effect and is dedicated to helping underprivileged children prepare for higher education. It provides these children an opportunity to get the training and mindset that will lead them to a very successful future. What once was only a grade 3-5 school now is a full K-12 charter school, with the first senior graduating class throwing their caps in the air this past June.

All of this started nearly two decades ago with the Andre Agassi Foundation. The tennis great has raised over $80 million over the last 13 years for the funding of the charter academy as well as school districts in Nevada. As Andre stated in a MSNBC interview, “My focus has been my charter school, which I’ve put in the most economically challenged area of Las Vegas, because my goal was to give resources, to give a level of accountability with those resources, and provide more opportunities for the children that society is quickest to write off. We treat it like a laboratory. This summer, June 12, we had our entire first senior class graduate, and every one of them headed to college.” An extraordinary start for an extraordinary project in giving.

Andre doesn’t just stop there. On September 26, the yearly Grand Slam for Children fundraiser was held that had stars like Tim McGraw, Dane Cook and Brian McKnight entertain the droves of spectators in attendance. Besides the roof, millions of fundraising dollars were raised in order to help future generations of students at the academy. From having high quality teachers to the best books and resources available, every dollar is maximized so that every future of every child is maximized. There is no wonder why each child participant is going to college when even finishing high school may have been a long shot.

With a dream and some passion, anyone can achieve their goals. Andre did in his career and is continuing that pursuit in education. Grab your dream yet? Maybe it’s just right around the corner. Check out a program available to you today. The ball is in your court.
