Toyota Recalls Several Vehicle Due to Unsafe Floor Mats

According to a recent report, Toyota has announced that it will be recalling approximately 3.8 million of its vehicles due to a problem with its floor mats. Apparently, the driver’s side mats have caused some drivers to experience unexpected acceleration as well as loss of control. Those vehicles included in the recall include:

· 2007-2010 Camry
· 2005-2010 Avalon
· 2004-2009 Prius
· 2005-2010 Tacoma
· 2007-2010 Tundra

According to company officials, Toyota is cooperating with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in an effort to fix the problem. For now, the company is advising owners of these vehicles to simply remove the floor mats on the driver’s side in order to prevent the problem from occurring.
“A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicles speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death,” Toyota said.
For those who decide to keep the floor mats in place, the company is suggesting that they double check them in order to make sure the mat is set properly in place.
