However, many opponents of early childhood education are saying that kids who attend daycare programs are not at much more of an advantage than their peers who don’t. At about third of fourth grade, the students who have not had early childhood education usually catch up with the rest of their classmates. So, while Head Start children do, in fact, get somewhat of a “head start”, their early childhood years don’t necessarily guarantee that they will cross the finish line.
