The economic downturn left the nation’s construction industry absolutely debilitated for a year. However, according to the Reuters, the construction sector is going to make gains this coming year. Single family homes, apartment buildings, and infrastructure projects are going to go up, meaning more jobs for construction workers, plumbers, and electricians. Finally this ailing economy is going to feel better in the near future.

The very important McGraw-Hill construction forecast showed that there is a positive forecast for construction in the coming year. This year the industry fell 25%. However, next year the value of starts are expected to climb by 11%. A construction start indicates the future of construction spending which correlates to actual spending. The coming year the starts are expected to be around $466.2 billion. This is very good news for those in the construction industry.
According to the Wallstreet Journal, “Single-family housing should come in at $162.2 billion, a 30% boost to 560,000 units, provided that mortgage rates remain low, the $8,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers is extended and programs to ease the foreclosure crisis help homeowners, the survey states.” All this means that more workers will be needed in several areas of construction that includes building homes, apartments, as well as bridges and tunnels.
