Online Fashion and Interior Design Degrees

Do you have an eye for fashion? Or, perhaps you enjoy taking a room or other space and truly making it shine. Either way, you might want to consider pursuing an online fashion degree or an online interior design degree. In either case, you can let your creativity shine while also earning an attractive income.

After earning an online fashion design degree, you can pursue a career designing suits, dresses, shoes, other types of clothing or even accessories. Within each of these categories, you can also choose to specialize in a specific category of design. If you choose to design clothes, for example, you might choose to specialize in maternity clothes, children’s clothes, sportswear, outerwear, intimate apparel or a variety of other types of clothing. Within the accessories category, you might choose to specialize in items such as scarves, handbags, belts, hosier, eyewear and more.

If you are more interested in designing rooms than you are in designing clothing, you might want to consider pursuing an online interior design degree instead. As an interior designer, your job is to find the right colors, textures and accessories to make a room look attractive while keeping it safe and functional.

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual income of fashion designers was $62,610 in 2006. Those who worked in the management of companies and enterprises earned the most, with a median annual income of $70,570, while those who worked in apparel and piece goods earned a median annual income of $62,910. The Bureau also reports that interior designers earned a median annual income of $42,260 in 2006, with those working in architectural and engineering services earning the most at $46,750. Those who worked in the building material and supplies dealer industry earned the least, with a median annual income of $36,650.
