Sara Palin Makes Strong Allegations in Her New Book

What do you think of former Vice President nominee Sarah Palin?

Former vice presidential nominee Sara Palin is making headlines again, thanks to her soon-to-be-released book. It would seem that Palin has made several accusations that are being adamantly denied by those she is accusing.

Perhaps the biggest controversy included in Palin’s new book, “Going Rogue” is her assertion that the McCain campaign has stuck her with paying a $50,000 legal bill that she claims she was hit with for vetting her to be John McCain’s running mate. Palin claims that the campaign told her the bill would have been covered if she and McCain had won. Since they lost, however, she was responsible for paying the bill.

As would be expected, an anonymous official of the McCain campaign says Palin’s claims are “completely false, not true.” Trever Potter, who is McCain’s general counsel, has also maintained that the campaign has never told Palin that the bill was her responsibility.

“To my knowledge, the campaign never billed Gov. Palin for any legal expenses related to her vetting and I am not aware of her ever asking the campaign to pay legal expenses that her own lawyers incurred for the vetting process,” he said.

According to reports, the new book also goes into a great deal of detail regarding other controversies and incidents demonstrating how much Palin didn’t get along with the McCain campaign. For instance, Palin claims she was stopped from giving a concession speech on the night of the election because it would be unprecedented and would further establish what the campaign considered to be her tendency to “go rogue.” She also claims she was not allowed to rewrite her statement regarding her daughter’s pregnancy, forcing her to give a speech she felt glamorized her daughter’s pregnancy.

Whether her allegations are true or not, Palin stands to make a very handsome income from her book. According to publishing sources, she was given a $5 million advance for the book, which as co-authored with Lynn Vincent. Currently, the 432 page book is listed within the top ten pre-ordered books with Borders. It has also consistently been within Amazon’s top ten list.
