3 Fun New Year’s Resolutions for College Students

If you are a college student, you may be looking for some great ideas for New Year’s resolutions that can help make your college experience even better and more exciting. If so, you might want to consider taking on one of these fun New Year’s resolutions for college students.

New Year’s Resolution #1: Join a Student Club

Whether you are attending an online school or a brick and mortar campus, you should include joining a student club at the top of your New Year’s resolution list. Most colleges offer a number of student clubs and other organizations that are directly related to or sponsored by the school. If the school you are attending does not offer student clubs, however, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy spending time with other students or with others who share the same interests as you. Consider joining a club that has to do with your major so you can increase your professional network while also learning more about the ins and outs of the career path you have selected. Don’t forget to look at virtual organizations as well, such as those that meet on Facebook or other social networking Websites.

New Year’s Resolution #2: Attend School Events

It is easy to get so caught up in your studies and other responsibilities that you completely blow off campus parties and other events. Those who fail to attend these events, however, often grow to regret missing out on the fun times that college has to offer. It is important to take a little time off for yourself so you can blow off a little steam. Therefore, another one of the New Year’s resolutions you should consider making is to attend more school events – even if it is just once per semester. On the other hand, if you are attending so many social events that your grades are suffering, you may need to make a resolution to spend more time hitting the books!

New Year’s Resolution #3: Explore Other Areas of Interest

Finally, your New Year’s resolution list should include exploring other areas of study. Even if you feel confident that you have selected the right major, it is always a good idea to explore other majors whenever possible. Not only will this help you make certain you are on the right career path, it will also make you a more well-rounded individual who is better prepared to explore other majors in the future. Remember, you don’t necessarily have to sign up for other classes in order to explore other majors. Rather, you can ask your friends to let you take a closer look at their books or to tell you more about their area of study. Who knows? You might even decide to add a second major to your program of study. This can help make your college experience more satisfying while also preparing you for more employment opportunities in the future.
