New Year’s Resolutions to Help Introverts Build a Successful Career
Do you consider yourself to be a bit of an introvert? If so, there are a few New Year’s resolutions that you might want to make in order to help you find more success with your job search. Remember, the ultimate goal of your New Year’s resolution is to change the way people think of you as well as how effectively you are able to communicate with others. To that end, you might want to consider making one or more of the following New Year’s resolutions:

· Add one person to your professional network each week or per day
· Make an effort to stay in touch with those who are already in your professional network
· Find ways to serve as a valuable resource to those who are already in your professional network
· Practice being extroverted by participating in professional/work-related activities – even if they make you feel a little uncomfortable. Remember, practice makes perfect.
· Find ways to promote yourself while defining your unique brand
· Explore new job search strategies, such as participating in a professional networking Website or working with a recruiter
· Take steps to improve your job search record keeping activities, including documenting the things you are currently doing while trying to find a job – you just might find that you are putting too much time into one aspect and not enough time in another area
· Document your career-related accomplishments while also maintaining an up-to-date resume
· Take steps to keep your job skills current, including joining professional organizations, participating in workshops, joining discussion groups and reading journals and other works that are related to your field
By making one or more of these New Year’s resolutions, you will not only sharpen your professional skills, you will also slowly work your way out of your shell so you can enjoy a greater amount of success in your field.
