The Hottest Jobs of 2007 – An In-depth Look

Over the past few months we’ve taken a close look at some of this years most promising jobs; home health aids, game design, radiation therapy and computer software engineering. In this last issue of our "Hottest Jobs of 2007" series we’ll take an in-depth look at one of the most complex and popular careers; forensic science technology.

Forensic Science Technology
The field of forensic science is soaring in popularity. And topping the list of career opportunities in this field is forensic science technology.

Forensic technologists help criminal investigators by gathering, classifying and analyzing physical evidence found at crime scenes. They generally specialize in DNA and firearm evidence. Main tasks for forensic science technologists include running DNA tests on tissues, fibers, hair, skin, blood and other body fluids. They also perform ballistic and other weapon analysis. Other responsibilities involve writing up reports and giving expert opinions to the investigators based on the evidence they find.
