In the past graduating with a degree in the field of art meant you had to be an Art History, Theater or Film Studies major. While these are all great choices to focus your education on, the art department has come a long way with new exciting programs.

Now, when students wan to enroll in the art department, they have a wide variety of areas to choose from. Culinary arts, interior design, fashion marketing, visual arts and fashion production are just some of the artistic programs that career colleges offer across the country.

We recently sat down with Monica and Travis, two art students looking to career colleges to get the education they need in their artistic fields.

Fashion Designer Job Description

Fashion designers generally work with manufacturing companies, wholesalers and design firms. Those who find their successful niche can go on to be self employed having their own clothing line.

Fashion designers are responsible for:
    • Sketching fashion ideas
    • Creating accessory designs
    • Determining pricing
    • Selecting and cutting fabric
    • Researching new styles
    • Tailoring clothing
    • Modify finished product
