An Insider's Perspective; Q & A with a CNA

In April we gave you information on what it takes to become a certified nurse assistant, or CNA. This month we had the opportunity to sit down with real life CNA Becky to see what it's really like to be a certified nurse assistant.

Q - Why did you want to become a CNA?

Becky - "I've always wanted to have a career in the health care industry and after talking to a few career counselors at a few career schools it quickly became apparent that getting a CNA degree would be a great option for me. Since it only takes about 3 months to finish training this field was something I could get into sooner.

Salary was another thing that got me interested in becoming a certified nurse assistant. With CNA's being in such high demand these days the salary for an entry level position is fantastic, about $24,000 a year.

The certified nurse assistant field is also a great gateway career into other medical fields. It's a degree that gives you options so that appealed to me as well."
