Mystery of Phlebotomy Revealed

Did you know that phlebotomists play a key role in the way medical diagnosis are made, but a shocking number of people don't even know what they do? In this newsletter we're going to take away the mystery of phlebotomy and reveal what phlebotomists do and how you can become one.

What is a Phlebotomist?

Phlebotomists draw blood and take tissue samples from medical patients and blood donors for various analysis and medical purposes. They test these samples for the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites and other microorganisms that might help them screen and diagnose patients.

After the blood and tissue is analyzed they help to evaluate test results. Some phlebotomists might also conduct interviews, take vital signs and test blood samples so they can screen potential blood donors.
