Founded in 1972, Brown College is one of the most highly regarded colleges, producing some of the most skilled court reporters and CART/Captioners in the country. Accredited, licensed and certified, Brown College takes pride in its outstanding reputation, excellent curriculum, diverse student body, and dedicated, experienced instructors.
Court Reporters are a key element in any courtroom. They take down sworn testimony and produce verbatim transcripts for judges, lawyers and litigants, in trials, depositions, congressional hearings and more. Students master the use of stenotype machines and speech recognition technology, with graduates mastering the translation into clear, accurate English records up to 225 words per minute with 95% accuracy. According to the National Court Reporters Association, the average income for a Court Reporter is $60,000/yr.
A terrific career move for those who have good listening skills, an interest in technology, the drive to work in the legal profession, and the desire to actively participate in court proceedings. Learn to take a verbatim record of legal proceedings with the use of speech recognition software.
