The Jones College Distance Learning program has been operating successfully since 1999. Bachelor of Science degree programs with majors in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Legal Assistant (FLA residents only), as well as Associate of Science degree programs with majors in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, and Legal Assistant (FLA residents only) are available. Course work can be completed on your schedule from anywhere you have an Internet connection!

Bachelor of Science Degrees
- Business Administration Major
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration provides students with the skills needed to obtain an entry-level position in business administration and the knowledge required for promotion into a managerial position in an already established career field. A broadly based sequence of business administration core course work is supplemented by general education and supplemental business courses.
- Computer Information Systems Major
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems combines a comprehensive series of data processing courses with essential business and general education courses. This program is designed to provide the student with the skills necessary to obtain an entry-level position as a computer programmer, systems analyst, or other position in Computer Information Systems.
- Legal Assistant (Paralegal) Major
Available for Florida Resident Only
The Bachelor of Science in Legal Assisting (Paralegal) is designed to prepare students with the skills necessary for entry-level positions in law firms, banks, savings and loan associations, government agencies, insurance companies, and title companies. The legal assistant (paralegal) usually works under the supervision of an attorney and assumes part of the attorney's workload, freeing the attorney for tasks that only attorneys are qualified to perform. This program is designed to give the student the opportunity to select from a range of legal specializations which will more fully prepare the student for employment in an area which is of interest to the student. This program is designed to be an extension of the Associate of Science Degree Program with a Legal Assisting (Paralegal) Major.
- Elementary Education Major
The Bachelor of Science Degree Program with an Elementary Education major is designed to provide students with the skills needed to obtain an entry-level position within a public school system in the state of Florida as elementary educators. In this program, students are provided with the tools and the environment to develop skills necessary to act as teachers, facilitators and coaches. Through the use of interactive discussions and “hands-on” approaches, students learn and apply concepts in subjects such as science, mathematics, language arts, and social studies. Students learn to assist children in understanding abstract concepts, solving problems and developing critical thought processes.
- Allied Health Management Major
The Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Management is designed to combine technical and medical office training with business course work. This will enable the allied health practitioner to function as a medical assistant with the ability to move into an entry-level managerial position in a medical office or other health care facility. Technical, office, and business training are supplemented with required general education and elective course work. (Currently only available at Jacksonville campuses on ground.)
- Interdisciplinary Studies Major
The Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies provides a degree completion program and accommodates the students whose needs are satisfied by a BS degree. This degree allows students to transfer in courses previously taken at accredited institutions of higher education or to design a program of study so that degree completion can be a combination of courses from a variety of disciplines. Courses selected should include, but not be limited to accounting, management, marketing, computer applications, programming, paralegal studies, medical assisting/allied health, and office administration. In addition to the 45 credits in general education, students must complete a total of 15 credits of general business requirements and the remaining 60 credits in the open concentration area.
Associate of Science Degrees
- Business Administration Major
The Associate of Science in Business Administration is designed to provide a student with the basic business knowledge necessary to operate a small business, to assume an entry-level managerial or manager trainee position, to assume an entry-level marketing position, or to provide the student with the knowledge necessary to be eligible for promotion into an entry-level managerial position in an already established career field.
- Computer Information Systems Major
The Associate of Science in Computer Information Systems is designed to provide a student with the basic skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment as a junior programmer, trainee, or other position in the Computer Information Systems industry. The basic sequence of Computer Information Systems courses is supplemented with general education and business offerings which help to ensure the student's productivity and mobility in the business environment.
- Legal Assistant (Paralegal) Major

The Associate of Science in Legal Assisting is designed to prepare a student for entry-level positions in law firms, savings and loan associations, government agencies, insurance companies, and title companies. The paralegal usually works under the supervision of an attorney and assumes part of the attorney's workload, freeing the attorney for tasks that only attorneys are qualified to perform. Legal courses are supplemented with business and general education offerings which prepare a student for the many roles that he/she may be asked to fulfill in the legal environment.
- Medical Assistant
The Medical Assisting career is a rewarding and versatile career. The Medical Assistant is broadly defined as an unlicensed allied health professional who provides administrative, clerical, and technical support to the physician. This includes front office, back office, and clinical laboratory areas. Most Medical Assistants are found in private medical practices or larger group offices where they work under the direct supervision of a family or specialty physician and side-by-side with various other allied health professionals.
Diplomas
- Medical Assisting Specialist
The Medical Insurance Coding Specialist program will provide you with a base knowledge of the medical front office to include information on data entry, medical software, insurance billing and routing, ICD9 and CPT coding. You will also be trained in understanding the language of medicine to include anatomy, diagnostics and general medical terminology. You will be ready for front office responsibilities in as few as two semesters.
- Office Administrative Specialist
The Administrative Specialist diploma program will prepare you for a technical position in a customer service environment. Computer software, computer hardware, PC management, customer service skills, customer service operations, and office skills are emphasized in this program.
- Help Desk Support Specialist
Help Desk Specialists are projected to be among the fastest growing occupations over the 2002-2012 period according to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are many paths of entry to occupations in computer systems management/Help Desk. Job prospects should be best for those with the latest skills and technologies; certifications and practical experience are essential.
Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available to students who qualify. All you need to do is complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit it to us. We will check your eligibility and help set up a "package" of aid for you. Once complete, you're ready to schedule, begin classes, and set to start on your way to a new career!
